Frequently asked questions
Vision therapy can be effective for both children and adults. Early intervention is often ideal, but improvements are possible at any age.
At our office, vision therapy programs are totally individualized week-by-week. On average, vision therapy may last several months, depending on the condition(s), goals, and progress. Vision therapy is typically scheduled as weekly in-office sessions plus at-home activities for reinforcement.
Children and adults with difficulties in eye coordination, depth perception, reading, attention, visual tracking may benefit. We also work with those looking to enhance visual performance for sports or are recovering from a concussion or other brain injury. Vision therapy is also effective for conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye turn), and visual processing disorders.
After a concussion, vision therapy focuses on retraining how the eyes and brain work together. It may include activities for eye coordination, focusing, tracking, and visual processing—helping reduce symptoms like headaches, blurry vision, and eye strain so patients can return to school, work, and sports more comfortably.
